Ben Montpetit

Ben Montpetit is a department chair and professor at UC Davis, specializing in the genetics and cell biology of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of British Columbia and completed postdoctoral training at UC Berkeley. His research is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation. At UC Davis, Ben serves on the Equity in Graduate Admissions Training Committee, mentors students through multiple NIH training programs, and advises undergraduates — all driven by his commitment to fostering a vibrant, innovative, and inclusive academic community.
