Thought Exercise

  • Analyze the numbers regarding diversity in your organization. In reference to Lorenzo, are these numbers sufficient to see an actual impact?

  • Identify any instances of “token-ism” in your organization (ie. appointment of a minority to specifically address diversity issues) and think of ways in which you can join in identifying and pursuing equity issues with them. Also encouraging others to participate as well.

  • Take a few minutes to imagine the world without a particular social injustice.

  • How many things are you currently doing on a regular basis that are directly opposed to the socially-just world you imagined?

  • Identify opportunities for positive steps in support of equality (ex. using inclusive language, self-education, cooperating with local change efforts, etc.)
